Unique to this map is the information provided on the existing railroad network at the time. Each railroad is shown, along with scheduled stops. Many maps also contain a listing of the railroads at the time. Map also provides capitals, scale of miles, and a detailed list of towns down the side noting population. A neat glimpse of the world in the early 20th century.

5. Chinese Empire with Japan and Korea
This large scale map came from Rand McNally's Commercial Atlas of America. The Rand McNally Atlas was unusual for its time because it was designed to be used by merchants and shippers. Therefore this map is exceptionally detailed in that it shows every railroad, post office, and small town in existence at that time. Many towns shown in this map have since ceased to exist, or have been swallowed up by larger towns. This map has beautiful color and is folded at center as issued.

This multi-colored map of the Chinese Empire with Japan and Korea shows countries, island groups, cities, towns, and many topographical features. The back side of the map contains a referenced list of cities and their locations. This map is in very good condition and contains fantastic detailing.

This map by Dr. Richard Andree (1835-1912), for his General Hand Atlas, is a wonderful example of the fine German engraving work. The detail noting even the smallest of villages is extraordinary.

12. Siberia & Central Asia
Thomas G. Bradford (1802-87) of Boston Massachusetts included this map in his first atlas titled, A Comprehensive Atlas Geographical, Historical and Commercial. These maps were hand colored and skillfully created in 1835, which adds to their classic, decorative appeal. A sage border surrounds this map of Siberia and Central Asia. Pink, blue, yellow, and green are used as outline colors throughout the body of the map. Important cities, mountain ranges, deserts, rivers, islands and bodies of water are identified.
